Rosary and Novena for the Protection of Life
The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), in collaboration with the Knights of Columbus, will launch the annual Novena for Life starting on October 22nd. This powerful nine-day prayer campaign focuses on the protection and dignity of all human life, from conception to natural death. The novena is part of a broader effort by the Church to raise awareness about life issues, including abortion, euthanasia, and the death penalty, calling on the faithful to stand firm in defense of the most vulnerable in society.
Participants are invited to join in daily prayers, offered for various life-related intentions, such as supporting expectant mothers, advocating for the elderly and disabled, and fostering a culture that values life at every stage. In addition to prayer, the novena encourages acts of fasting, penance, and charity, reminding us that prayerful action is crucial in shaping a society that upholds the sanctity of life.
This initiative is part of the Knights of Columbus’ Faith in Action program, which emphasizes the need for Catholics to actively engage in spiritual and community-building efforts that align with the Church’s mission to protect life. As one of the Knights’ most significant pro-life activities, the Novena for Life draws thousands of participants across the country each year.
To mark the beginning of the Novena, the John Paul II Council will be hosting a Rosary for Life on October 22nd following the 12 PM Mass. The rosary will be dedicated to praying for the protection of life and the conversion of hearts, particularly those involved in decisions affecting life and death. Everyone is invited to come together in prayer and solidarity for this important cause.
